Cheap Eats: Cho Sun Ok

Cho Sun Ok provides authentic Korean barbecue at an amazingly great price.  Cho Sun Ok is Korean barbecue at its finest.  Generations of Korean families have been dining here for years and if first generation Korean-Americans give Cho Sun Ok a stamp of their approval, you know this place is legit.  Remember to order the Cho Dal Bae Gi because this order of thinly slice beef brisket also comes with fried rice prepared at your table.  Plus, this place is BYOB!  A Jewel-Osco is conveniently located around the corner if by happenstance you forget to bring your drink of choice.  Be prepared to wait during dinner hours since Cho Sun Ok does not take reservations.

Don't expect any wine glasses.  At Cho Sun Ok, you drink wine out of a glass cup and you'll enjoy it.
A spoon and a pair of chopsticks are all you need.
Each table receives its own personal stone grill.
Cho Dol Bae Gi.  Thinly sliced beef brisket.  Just beautiful.  You get a whole plateful per one order!

You get all these side dishes with your meal!
Mul Kimchee.  Translated this mean "water kimchee".  Tart and refreshing!
Grill your own meat at your table.
Don't forget to add the garlic.
Smaller dishes are provided to plate your cooked meat.
Dip the Cho Dal Bae Gi in the dish of sesame seed oil seasoned with salt.
Thinly sliced green onions are provided to accompany the meat.

Towards the end your meal, the server cooks fried rice at the table.  She flattens out the rice to create Noo Roong Ji (burnt rice) to form a crust on the bottom of the rice.
Seol Leong Tang.  Savory and creamy beef broth beef soup with beef tongue, tripe, scallions, and vermicelli noodles.
Absofrigginlutely delish!  The beef tongue is extremely tender and melts in your mouth.
Happy eating.
