India House (River North)

India House offers delicious and authentic Indian cuisine in River North.  This restaurant also provides a myriad of vegetarian options along with their goat, chicken, and seafood dishes.  If you work in the Loop, try out their fantastic lunch buffet (not pictured below) offered during the week between 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Just be prepared to be in a food coma after your meal.  Reservations can be made here.

A basket of naan (Indian-style bread that is heavenly) and curry is provided before your meal.
The curry is creamy and delish.
Lamb Kheema SamosasDeep fried cone pastry stuffed with minced lamb.  They also have potato and peas samosas that are just as delicious.

Samosas come with 4 types of sauces.  The green sauce is a cilantro chutney.  The dark brown sauce is tamarind chutney and tasted similar to BBQ sauce.  The sauce to the far right is achar, an Indian pickle dish usually made from picked mangoes, and tasted extremely sour.  The light yellow sauce tasted sweet, similar to the flavor of fruit preserves.  Big thanks to Nitin for clarifying the types of sauces for me!
Garlic Naan fresh from the oven.  I could've eaten this whole order by myself.  If you love garlic, definitely order this.

Tandoori Chicken (Half portion).  Outstanding!  I am always amazed at how tender and juicy the chicken comes out with every order.  Do yourself a favor and order the full portion.

The tandoori chicken comes out on a steaming hot plate.
Shrimp Biryani.  Biryani is an Indian-style fried rice.
I am obsessed with biryani.  Probably even more so than my mom's Korean fried rice... sorry mom, I love you.
Cucumber yogurt sauce accompanies any type of biryani.  I drizzle this sauce over the rice and eat it together.  This cooling yogurt sauce compliments the spiciness of this dish.

Happy eating.

xoxo
