| Au Cheval is the chic new
diner located on the famed Restaurant Row on the corner of Randolph and
Halsted. Au Cheval has been creating a buzz ever since Brendon Sodikoff
(owner of Gilt Bar, Maude's Liquor Bar, and the infamous Doughnut
Vault) opened his recent venture. Although Au Cheval is ostensibly
categorized as a diner, the dimly lit interior, exposed brick walls, and
sleek stainless steel open kitchen, create a sexy and sophisticated
venue that rubs off a 1930s French vibe. The food is ridiculously
delicious and incorporates an egg in almost every dish. Why the
incredible, edible egg? Because the term "au cheval" is culinary slang
for "with an egg on top." Not to mention, the music is so good that I
wish I had Shazam'd every tune all night! No reservations are taken at
this time so take a seat at the bar and sip on a wonderfully crafted
stiff cocktail or one of their 30+ craft beers while you wait. |
